*KARACHI – In a surprise move, three special public prosecutors of theNational Accountability Burea’s (NAB) Sindh tendered their resignations onMonday. *
The three prosecutors — Munsif Jan, Yasir Mughal, and Naseem Malik — wererepresenting the anti-graft body in high-profile corruption cases includingthe investigations into alleged corruption by former minister SharjeelMemon, the Port Qasim and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) corruption probe.
The replacements of the three officers, who were investigating financialirregularities in several major institutions, are yet to be hired.
In July, NAB had authorised three separate inquiries against PakistanPeoples Party (PPP) Agha Siraj Durrani. One inquiry pertained toallegations of accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income, whileanother pertains to illegal appointments on 352 government posts.
