ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court has directed Punjab government for takinglegal action against the private universities that have established illegalsub-campuses in the Province.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of PakistanJustice Mian Saqib Nisar passed the orders while hearing a suo motu caseregarding private universities at the Supreme Court Lahore registry today.
The court has also sought details about the number of private universitiesand their affiliated colleges in Punjab from the Advocate General.
In another case, Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of PakistanMian Saqib Nisar heard a suo motu case regarding the salaries of the publicsector companies’ heads.
During the proceedings, a NAB official submitted the report that extrasalaries worth 313 million rupees have been taken back from the officers ofthe 56 public sectors companies.
He said that nine officers still have not returned the extra salariesamounting to 118 million rupees.
At this, the Chief Justice sought the response of the officers who have notyet returned the extra salaries.
