NEW YORK – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has delivered the rightmessage to the United States.

He on Friday said that the United States wants to make Pakistan a scapegoatto to hide its failures.

Addressing a ceremony in New York on Friday, he said that Washington’spriorities in the region have changed as it has made new friends.

“We want to play a positive role in Afghanistan but Kabul is not onlyPakistan’s responsibility,” he said.

“I am here to renew this commitment that Pakistan wants to revive its tieswith the United States. We have made our policies clear.”

The foreign minister said Pakistan’s safeguarding of US interests should berecognised as Washington has always gained from its relationship withIslamabad.

“Be it the war against Soviets or 9/11, Pakistan has always stood byAmerica’s side. America always benefitted while it had Pakistan’s backingand support,” he added.
