ISLAMABAD – Former chief justice of Pakistan Justice (r) Iftikhar Chaudhryhas responded over the baseless allegations leveled by the PTI InformationMinister Fawad Chaudhry.
Former CJP rejected reports of alleged involvement of his son-in-law in theEden Housing scams. He is neither director nor a share holder in the saidproject, he said.
Arsalan Iftikhar in an exclusive interview with our correspondent hasrevealed that neither he nor his sister are involved in the said case ineither way.
He further revealed that his brother in law Murtaza Amjad is a Canadiannational and has not been the director or the share holder in the housingsociety.
Earlier on Wednesday, Justice (r) Iftikhar Chaudhry’s son-in-law MurtazaAmjad was arrested from Dubai in a case regarding the multi-billion EdenHousing Society scam, which was termed as a “breakthrough” by theInformation Minister Fawad Chaudhry.
Iftikhar Chaudhry insisted that Amjad had nothing to do with the EdenHousing scam as “he holds Canadian citizenship and does not come toPakistan”. He alleged that the PTI government was “spreading propaganda”against him because he had challenged Prime Minister Imran Khan’s electionin court.
The former chief justice further said that the high courts in Islamabad andPeshawar had already issued notices to PM Khan and he was also consideringto file a disqualification case against the premier in an election tribunal.
Terming Fawad Chaudhry’s statements, who said the former chief justice hadgiven “relief” to the owners of the housing society because they were thein-laws of his daughter, as lies and warned that he would file a caseagainst the minister under Article 62.
