NAB files multiple references and inquiries against top officials: Sources

*LAHORE – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed multiplereferences and launched inquiries against top officials in several cases ofcorruption.*

*NAB approved four references in graft and corruption cases and furtherinvestigations against several prominent personalities.*

The decision was made after a meeting of the executive board meeting of theanti-graft watchdog chaired by NAB chairman Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal.

A reference will be filed against against CEO Quaid-e-Azam Hospital inRawalpindi Shaukat Bangash who is accused of embezzlement worth Rs612million.

Another reference will be filled against former secretary lands KarachiGhulam Mustafa, former deputy commissioner Fazlur Rehman, and formercommissioner Roshan Ali.

A separate reference will be filed against ex-DDO Revenue Shaukat HussainJokhio who is accused in land scam and illegally leasing 265 acresgovernment lands on fabricated documents in Bin Qasim Town of districtMalir Karachi.

A reference will also be filed against former secretary water and powerShahid Rafi, and former chairman Board of Governors Pepco Muhammad SaleemArif.

The anti-graft watchdog also approved investigations against severalprominent personalities including former Speaker Balochistan Assembly JanMuhammad Jamali, former commissioner Sukkur Jam Ghulam Qadir, and formerSindh minister Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani.

Investigations will also be held against former vice-chairman Punjab SportsBoard Hanif Abbasi and former federal minister Tanvir Hussain.

NAB also approved to conduct investigation against former commissioner forAfghan refugees Zia-ur-Rehman, who is also the brother of JamiatUlema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
