RIYADH – Saudi Arabia faces yet another diplomatic blow over the death ofthe missing journalist.
Announcing that it was no longer appropriate to participate in the Saudisummit in light of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Australiapulled out of the Future Investment Initiative Conference (FIIC).
By pulling out of the Saudi summit, Australia now joins US, France,Netherlands and other several major nations and investors who haveannounced that they would not be attending the conference also called‘Davos in the desert’ taking place on October 23.
Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne said in a statement thatAustralia deplores the killing of Khashoggi at the hands of the Saudioperatives. She said that Australia had noted the latest announcement bythe kingdom of arresting 18 Saudi nationals.
