Pakistan makes an offer to Qatar

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi Friday whilediscussing the bilateral ties with visiting Qatari counterpart, offered theservices of professional Pakistani workforce to Qatar for preparations of2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar.

In a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs ofthe State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, who called onhim here, the foreign minister underscored the importance of relationshipbetween Pakistan and Qatar, said a Foreign Office statement.

The Qatari foreign minister congratulated Foreign Minister Qureshi onassuming the office and conveyed his keen desire to work with him forcementing brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar.

Discussing bilateral, political and economic relations between the twocountries, the ministers decided to hold the next meeting of JointMinisterial Commission in December this year. It was also agreed to holdBilateral Political Consultations at the same time.

The foreign minister highlighted the huge potential for bilateralcooperation in energy, petroleum and petrochemical, agriculture andlivestock sectors.

Recalling his meeting with Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani in NewYork on the side-lines of 73rd United Nations General Assembly last month,the foreign minister reiterated his request for fast tracking therecruitment process for import of more Pakistani workers by Qatar.

Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani thanked the foreign minister andreiterated his invitation to him to visit Doha on mutually convenientdates. The foreign minister accepted the invitation.
