Pakistan Foreign Minister telephones his Afghan counterpart

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has telephoned his Afghancounterpart, Salahuddin Rabbani, to condole the death of three seniorAfghan leaders in a terrorist attack in Kandahar on Thursday.

A Foreign Office statement today said that the Foreign Minister saidPakistan continues to stand with its Afghan brethren and shares their painand grief.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi reiterated that Pakistan condemns terrorism and thatit would continue to work with Afghanistan to achieve long-term peace andstability in the region.

The Foreign Minister said peace and economic development in Pakistan aredirectly linked with the restoration of complete peace and stability inAfghanistan.

He reassured Foreign Minister Rabbani of Pakistan’s complete support forthe Afghan democratic process.
