LAHORE – The Punjab government has taken important decision over the issueof the subsidies of the Metro Buses across the province.
Government has decided to end subsidies on fares of the Metro bus service,the provincial finance minister said on Thursday.
According to a statement by Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim JawanBakht, the provincial government has been providing subsidies of Rs12billion yearly to Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi Metro bus services.
The Metro bus fares from Shahdara, Lahore to Gajju Matta will now bedetermined on stop-to-stop basis, he said.
The minister also informed that registration fees will be reduced for smallimported cars but increased for larger cars. A collective programme toprovide employment to the youth has been prepared; farmers will be providedloans on easier terms, and health insurance cards will be issued to thepublic for free medical care, Bakht added.
