Former President Pervaiz Musharraf suffering from deadly disease

LAHORE – Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf counsel hasrevealed that he is suffering from a deadly heart disease.

He further informed a special court on Monday that his client wanted toappear before the court in person to clarify the position in the hightreason case against him.

During the hearing by a bench headed by Lahore High Court (LHC) ChiefJustice Justice Yawar Ali, Musharraf’s counsel Salman Safdar told thespecial court that Musharraf does not want to record his statement viavideo link but wants to appear in person.

Upon this, the prosecution witness stated that Musharraf had wasted theopportunity to record his statement under Section 342.

Justice Yawar pointed out that Musharraf had submitted a medicalcertificate issued by American Hospital in Dubai.

‘The report was issued in August and is old,’ he stated.

When the judge stated that doctors had to re-examine Musharraf’s health,the former president’s counsel responded that his client’s health was stillthe same and tests pertaining to his heart are being conducted.

If the court gives time, I can obtain further details, he argued.

The counsel further insisted that Musharraf was ill.

‘He has a heart ailment,’ Safdar responded.
