High Treason Case: New developments reported in Special Court

*ISLAMABAD – New developments have been reported in the high treason caseagainst former President Pervaiz Musharraf.*

*Former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf has declined to record hisstatement via video link in a treason case, his lawyer informed the courton Monday.*

Former president has been out of the country since March 2016.

The lawyer informed a special bench comprising Justice Yawar Ali, JusticeTahira Safdar and Justice Nazar Akbar seized with a high treason case,thathis client is indisposed.

The case initiated against former military strongman for suspending theConstitution on Nov 3, 2007 by proclamation of emergency, an offence forwhich charges framed against him on March 31, 2014.

Justice Yawar Ali said that Pervez Musharraf is out of the country andaccording to his counsel he is ill. His statement should be recorded underarticle 342.

Prosecution counsel said that he was given opportunity to record hisstatement but the accused didn’t avail it.
