WASHINGTON – United States President Donald Trump has thanked Turkey forfreeing American pastor Andrew Brunson after two years in custody.

In a tweet, he said it would help improve strained relations between thetwo countries.

Relations between the two countries have been strained by U.S. support forKurdish fighters in northern Syria and Turkey’s plans to buy a Russianmissile defense system.
