Pakistan to take bilateral security relationship with UK to next level, vows COAS Bajwa

LONDON – COAS General Qamar Javaid Bajwa called on Gavin Williamson,Secretary of State for Defence, Gareth Bayley, Prime Minister’s specialRepresentative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SREP) and Mark Sedwill,National Security Adviser (NSA).

During the meetings, evolving regional security environment and matters ofmutual interest were discussed. British leadership was unanimous inacknowledging Pakistan’s extraordinary achievements in counter terrorismand commended the improved security situation in Pakistan and its positiveefforts towards regional peace and stability.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) said that Pakistan is moving steadily towardsenhanced stability and is ready to take Pakistan-UK bilateral securityrelationship to the next level for mutual benefit, and in other fields ofcommon interests.

The discussions ranged from the bilateral bond created by sizeable Pakistandiaspora in Britain as well as shared interests in evolving globalgeo-political and geo-economic environment.
