Pakistan to digitalise the electricity and transmission system network

*ISLAMABAD – Federal government has decided to digitalise the electricityand transmission system in Pakistan *

* Federal Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan said that introduction of newtechnology in transmission and distribution systems is one of his toppriorities.*

During a call on meeting with German Ambassador to Pakistan H.E MartinKobler on Friday, the minister revealed his plan for digitalization oftransmission and distribution system to obtain real time feedback ondemand, supply for effective load management.

Omar Ayub Khan apprised the ambassador about challenges in transmissionsystem of Pakistan. He also informed that he is devising a comprehensiveplan for re-hauling of transmission and distribution system so that wastagecould be minimized.

He reiterated his firm resolve to take all possible measures to eliminateculture of direct hooking with the help of improved technology which wouldultimately save Rs250 billion annually which are lost due to line lossesand pilferage.

While stressing upon the need of harnessing wind and solar resources, hesaid that Pakistan is a country which has great potential for solar andwind projects and the present government in its thrust to have large shareof renewable power intends to benefit from the experiences of the developednations.

The minister said that he would take every possible step to exploit thebenefits of the clean, affordable, reliable, and sustainable renewablepower resources of the country.
