ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has emphatically stated that it is against arms racein the region.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal was commenting on recentIndia-Russia air defense system deal, at his weekly news briefing inIslamabad on Thursday.
The Spokesperson said the countries which are providing weapons to Indiashould make sure that their assistance does not disturb balance of power inthe region.
He pointed out that human and economic development is the stated policy andmanifesto of present government in Pakistan, and by indulging in the armsrace, the resources cannot be diverted to the development.

The spokesperson, however also made it clear that Pakistani nation and thearmed forces are fully ready to respond to any aggression.
