ISLAMABAD Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industry andInvestment Adul Razzak Dawood Tuesday expressed confidence that Pakistanwould sign free trade agreements with various countries soon as it wastaking concerted measures to put the country on consistent path ofdevelopment and prosperity.
Talking to a private news channel, he said it was need of the hour topromote Pakistani products abroad in an effective manner in order toincrease foreign exchange reserves and steer the country out of theeconomic crunch.He underlined the need to follow the example of European and othercountries, who had overcome their financial issues by enhancing theirexports.
Terming the smuggling ‘harmful’ for the national economy, the adviser saidthe PTI government was working on a strategy to prevent smuggling under thevision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.He said the government was providing cheap gas to the industrial sector forrevival of sick units and make the Pakistani products competitive ininternational markets.
He said a Saudi delegation had recently visited Pakistan and agreed toinvest in the energy sector and establish an oil city at Gwadar, whichwould bring down prices of petroleum products. – APP
