BEIJING – China has responded over the report which has alleged the ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor projects as the main reason behind the Pakistandebt burden.
China on Tuesday denied media reports which blamed the China PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC) as a major reason behind the debt burden onPakistan.
A spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, Lu Kang quoted the recentstatement made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which clearlystated that Pakistan’s debt burden was not caused by cooperation projectsrelated to CPEC.
Responding to CPEC related questions at the weekly news briefing, he saidthat recently, around the construction of the CPEC project, they havenoticed that some elements in the media have various comments and quoteddifferent news.
In fact, he said, “If you can fully understand the attitude of the newPakistani government on the construction of the China-Pakistan EconomicCorridor, it should be noted that the Pakistani government led by PrimeMinister Imran Khan has expressed his full support”.
