ISLAMABAD – China has made a big offer to Pakistan to increase its tradewith China and reduce the trade deficit.
China is set to hold its first-ever high-profile trade event in itsbusiness capital, Shanghai next month and has invited Pakistan to takebenefit of it for overcoming the trade deficit in bilateral trade.
It will be a golden opportunity for Pakistani producers and exporters toenhance their export to China by taking part in this event, ChinaInternational Import Expo (CIIE), sources said on Saturday. Pakistan hasalready been granted a status of ‘Guest of Honour’.
“We expect Pakistan’s participation in the CIIE in a big way. It will be agreat opportunity for the Pakistani traders to explore the Chinese marketand enhance their export to China,” said an official of the ChineseMinistry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Chinese Envoy in Islamabad Yao Jing had stated earlier that the CIIE couldhelp Pakistan to overcome trade imbalance between the two countries. Headded that the Chinese embassy in Islamabad will be fully facilitating thePakistani businessmen to avail the opportunity.
According to the sources, the CIIE is the world’s first large-scaleexhibition to be centred on imports. Driven by continued supply-sidestructural reform and the comprehensive implementation of innovation-drivendevelopment strategies in recent years, China is in the process ofdeveloping a new form of consumption-led economic growth.
