ISLAMABAD – Foreign elements are suspected in the murder of JUI S chiefMaulana Samiul Haq.

Martyrdom of Maulana was not an internal issue rather Indians, Afghans andother elements are involved in this act,” said a statement issued by JUI-S.

Maulana Samiul Haq was stabbed to death at his residence in Rawalpindi onNovember 2.

The party’s official statement further noted, in a bid to hide theirincompetence, some people were issuing differing accounts, dubbing it adomestic dispute to sectarian issue, as the motive behind the murder ofJUI-S leader.

Appealing to security agencies to arrest the real killers of Maulana, thereligious party demanded to award exemplary punishment to the culprits.

Highlighting the key role played by slain leader in mediation betweenTaliban and other groups including Afghan government, the statement said, adelegation of Afghan government had requested Maulana Samiul Haq in Octoberto facilitate talks with Taliban.

“They started propaganda against him and Darul Uloom Haqqania when theyfailed to persuade him to play the desired role”, it alleged.
