SHANGHAI – Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping and Russia PM visited PaksitanPavilion at China International Import Expo in Shanghai.
They were received by the Prime Minister Imran Khan, members of the Cabinetand CM Balochistan.
President Xi was accompanied by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev,Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phucand Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
Secretary Commerce Mohammad Younus Dagha briefed the dignitaries about thetheme of the Pavilion which represented five important trade sectors ofPakistan.
He informed that Textiles and Apparels employ 38 per cent of industrialworkforce with 8.5 per cent share in GDP and make up for more than 70 percent of our exports with leather and made-ups, for many internationalbrands. The fastest growth has been in the garments sector which providesjobs to female workers.
He further said that Pakistan has the privilege of not only having theworld renowned sportsmen but also has the distinction of competing inquality and winning the contracts for supply of sports goods for top brandsand prestigious events. The last two FIFA world cups including the one thisyear in Russia were played with Pakistan made footballs. Younus Dagha saidthat with the marvelous archeological sites of the world’s oldestcivilization in south and the meeting point of the three majestic mountainranges known as “the roof of the world” in the north, the tourism sector inPakistan offers unlimited opportunities for the hospitality sectorinvestors.
The new government is improving the policy framework to attract moreinvestments in manufacturing sector to increase our capacity to export.
