Moulana Sami ul Huq assassination: new developments reported in the case

RAWALPINDI – A case has been registered against the murder of the MoulanaSami ul Huq.

The personal secretary and guard of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam’s slain leaderMaulana Samiul Haq was interrogated for three hours on Saturday inconnection with the assassination of the cleric.

Maulana Sami, who was dubbed as the ‘father of Taliban’ was stabbed todeath by unknown assailants at his residence in Rawalpindi on Friday – at atime when his personal staff was not at home.

According to police sources, the staff members were interrogated by policebut both were later let go on the directions of Maulana’s Sami’s son,Maulana Hamidul Haq though the duo can be summoned again for further probe.

Meanwhile, a first information report (FIR) of Maulana Sami’s assassinationwas registered against unknown gunmen at the Airport Police Station on hisson’s complaint.

According to the FIR, Maulana Hamid said his father’s secretary, AhmedShah, had informed him over the phone that someone had stabbed his father.

The FIR stated that Maulana Sami was rushed to the Safari Hospital butsuccumbed to the injuries as he received a total of 12 wounds on hisstomach, heart, forehead and ears.
