ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chinese President Xi Jinping at ameeting at the Great Hall of People in Beijing on Friday reviewed theentire gamut of bilateral relations and held in-depth discussions onregional and global matters of mutual interest.
The two leaders agreed to work closely to overcoming growing political andeconomic uncertainties.
They also reviewed progress of CPEC, expressed satisfaction on itsachievements and undertook for its early completion to maximize thebenefits for Pakistan.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasized President Xi’s visionof Belt and Road initiative and its flagship project CPEC would translateinto a win-win situation for shared prosperity in the entire region andbeyond.
Imran Khan said friendship with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan’sforeign policy and expressed the desire to further consolidate thisrelationship.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan stands by China in safeguardingmutual interests, shared ideals and promoting multilateralism. He extendedan invitation to President Xi Jinping to visit Pakistan.
President Xi Jinping expressed his firm commitment to strengthenPakistan-China strategic cooperative partnership for Shared Future in theNew Era. He reiterated China’s steadfast support to Pakistan on all issuesof core interest.
The Chinese President congratulated Prime Minister Imran Khan on hiselection and assumption of office.
Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked the Chinese President, government and thepeople of China for their warm sentiments and hospitality.
He congratulated them on the 40th anniversary of ‘Reform and Opening-up’which has resulted in China’s meteoric rise.
Prime Minister Imran Khan is on his first four day official visit to Chinaalong with a delegation of federal ministers and Chief Minister BalochistanJam Kamal.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan also held a meeting with PresidentAsian Infrastructure Investment Bank Jin Liqun in Beijing on Friday.
He discussed with him the development projects in Pakistan
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also met Minister for InternationalDepartment of Communist Party of China Song Tao in Beijing.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest.
