*ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court has announced decision over the appointmentof permanent Inspector General of Police in Islamabad.*
*SC turned down on Thursday the government’s request to appoint a newIslamabad police chief.*
Chief Justice Saqib Nisar headed a three-member bench and heard the requestfiled through the attorney general. In the petition, questions were raisedabout Islamabad IG Jan Muhammad’s performance.
The AG requested the court to give the government permission to appoint anew IG keeping in mind the current situation.
Justice Nisar, however, said that the court suspended the notificationtransferring the IG after hearing the interior secretary and establishmentdivision’s replies in the case.
