ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi has called forenhanced trade and economic cooperation with the European Union to helpPakistan optimally benefit from GSP Plus Scheme.
Talking to a delegation of the European Parliament’s South Asia Delegationled by chairperson Ms. Jean Lambert at the Foreign Office, he expressedsatisfaction over the positive growth in Pakistan-EU relations.
The two sides also discussed global and regional issues of mutual interests.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi also called for increase in Parliamentary exchanges,besides building linkages through cultural and educational exchanges andpeople to people contacts.
Foreign Minister briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s approach towardspromoting regional peace and prosperity.
He also highlighted the recent wave of grave violations of human rights byIndian security forces in Indian Occupied Kashmir and urged EU Parliamentto take a public position on UN Human Rights Commissioner’s report onKashmir.
The EU delegation acknowledged the progress made by Pakistan in politicaland economic spheres, especially in democracy, counter-terrorism and humanrights domains.
The delegation assured continued cooperation with the government in itsfuture endeavors.
