NHA undertook four motorways projects worth 3,380 million

ISLAMABAD – National Highways Authority (NHA) has undertaken four majorprojects on Public Private Partnership (PPP) at total of US$3,380 millionduring past five years.

Talking to APP Wednesday an official of NHA said the authorityhas established an active cell for encouragement of privatesector involvement in road building schemes, which is providinginformation under one window operation to the investors.

As a result, NHA succeeded in undertaking four mega projects on PPP basisduring thelast five years which include 357 km modernization of Lahore-IslamabadMotorway, conversion of existing super highway into 136 km Karachi-HyderabadMotorway, construction of 89 Km Lahore-Sailkot motorway and 300 KmHyderabad-Sukkur Motorway at a total cost of US$ 3380 million.

He further said the NHA is planning to undertake five more projects onPublic Private Partnership basis in the future which include 70 kmSialkot-Kharian Motorway, 115 Km Kharain-Rawalpindi Motorway, 294 Km PindiBhattian-Multan Motorway, 43 Km Nowshera-Peshawar Expressway and 50KmKarachi Northern Bypass from two-lane highway to four-lane motorway.

These projects will be completed at an estimated of cost of US$ 1830million, he said.
