ISLAMABAD – Federal government has come up with a new plan to cutelectricity theft across the country.
Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan has said Advanced MeteringInfrastructure system and Aerial Bundled Cables will be installed tocontrol power theft.
In an interview, he said this system will not only stop energy theft butalso ensure real-time meter reading.
The Minister said Power Division had chalked out a plan to controlelectricity theft and increasing capacity of generation and transmission ofelectricity.

He said the Power Division is engaging with the provinces on creation ofspecial task forces with the support of provincial governments, localauthorities and law enforcement agencies for crackdown against electricitytheft.
