DUBAI – Pakistan and UAE are going to sign agreement over recovery oflooted wealth.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shehzad Akbar onSaturday met with United Arab Emirates Minister of Justice and discussedmatters related to recovery of unlawful wealth of the Pakistanis in the UAE.
In his tweet, PM’s special assistant said, “recently met with UAE Ministerof Justice Sultan Saeed Al Badi to discuss setting up operational liaisonbetween both the countries for exchange of information and signingbilateral accords for seeking information and recovery of unlawful wealth.”
Mr. Akbar was optimistic that both the countries will soon reach anagreement of tracing down the illegal properties acquired by the Pakistanicitizens.
Mr. Shehzad while addressing a presser on November 12 vowed that allheavyweights laundering money in by using Iqama (foreign work permit) willsoon be nabbed.
Assistant to PM on accountability had said, 5.3 billion US dollars werelaundered from Pakistan and more than 5000 fake accounts were used inillegal transfer of above $1 billion.
