Pakistan Railways launches three new passenger trains

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways is all set to introduce three new passengertrains on November 23, to facilitate the travelers in various parts of thecountry besides bringing revenue to the department.

The trains to be launched included Sindh Express (Karachi-Sukkar), ShahAbdul Latif Bhittai Express (Karachi- Mirpur Khas) and Lahore-FaisalabadNon Stop (Lahore-Faisalabad-Multan), an official in the Ministry ofRailways told APP.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to inaugurate the trains andthe decision was taken on the directives of Minister for RailwaysSheikh Rashid Ahmed under present government’s 100-days plan.

Railways had already launched the operations of six new passenger trainsincluding Mianwali Railcar, Rawalpindi Express, Faisalabad Non Stop,Mohenjodaro Express, Rohi Express and Dhabeji Express, he added.

Regarding the Rehman Baba Express train for low income people from Karachito Peshawar, the official said the train will also be launched by Decemberend this year.

He said two racks of Rehman Baba Express has been ready and left racks willbe completed soon as the railway workers are working day and nights tocomplete it.

Regarding the response about new passenger trains, the official said newtrains are receiving good response and around average 600 passengers aretravelling in these trains.

To a question, he said Railways has increased freight train from 8 to 10and two more trains would be added in the system, one in December and theother by January end.

In this regard, minister for Railways had already established a task forceon freight trains to improve its business which is working vigorously toenhance number of food trains to overcome the deficit of the organization.
