*ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court has ordered the formation of a larger benchto establish a joint investigation team in the Model Town case. The nexthearing will be held on December 5*.
A two-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and comprisingJustice Ijazul Ahsan, heard on Monday a petition to form a new JIT in thecase at the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry.
The larger bench will comprise the chief justice, Justice Asif Saeed Khosaand three other judges.

The petition was filed by Bisma Amjad, the daughter of a woman who died inthe Model Town incident. She says that in the previous government’s tenurethe respondents were all influential and at senior positions so anindependent investigation could not be conducted.
