In a first, PM Imran Khan directs to prepare Islamabad master plan

ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Interior, Shehryar Afridi has said thatPrime Minister Imran Khan has directed for preparation of a master plan forIslamabad, which will soon be implemented.

Addressing a joint news conference with Prime Minister’s Special Assistanton Capital Development Authority, Ali Nawaz Awan, in Islamabad on Tuesday,he said a commission will be formed for preparing the master plan whichwill be headed by a professional.

He said action is being taken against the land grabbers without anydiscrimination and in this regard all the legal requirements are beingfulfilled before nabbing them.

He said those who facilitated, protected or promoted the land grabberswhether they were from the district administration, police or CDA will notbe spared.

Shehryar Afridi said 33,000 Kanals of land has been recovered in twovillages of Islamabad from illegal occupants.

He said that Islamabad was designed for a population of six hundredthousand people, but now its population has crossed two million and nomaster plan has ever been prepared during the last twenty years.

He said the presence of encroachments in Islamabad is due tonon-availability of an effective plan of action.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on CDA, AliNawaz Awan said major operations will be launched against the land grabbersin the coming days and Islamabad will change within next six months.

He said a policy is being devised for the residents of the slums inIslamabad.

Ali Nawaz Awan said it is PTI’s visions not to dislocate the residents ofslums without any plan for their rehabilitation.
