Dr Shakil Afridi case: New developments reported from PHC

ISLAMABAD – New developments have been reported in the case of traitor DrShakil Afridi’s petition.

The hearing to review a tribal court’s decision was adjourned for one yearas the Peshawar High Court (PHC) declared the tribunal where the petitionwas filed to be defunct, a local media outlet reported on Tuesday.

Afridi had helped the US in tracking down former Al Qaeda chief Osama binLaden in Abbottabad in 2011.

He was previously sentenced to 33 years in prison on four separate chargesby a tribal court.

The tribunal hearing the petition was declared defunct after the merger ofthe erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with KhyberPakhtunkhwa (KP).
