Pakistan Railways target 10 billion profit for FY 2018-19

RAWALPINDI – Federal Minister for Railway Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Wednesdaysaid that the Railway has set a target of profit margin of RS 10 billionfor financial year 2018-19.

Talking to media at the Rawalpindi Railway Hospital , Rasheed vowed that“the task given to me by Prime Minister Imran Khan as focal person of LehExpressway Project will be completed soon”.

Sheikh said that a new train would be started from Karachi to Peshawar thatwill cover the distance of 1760 kilometers in 8 hours at the speed of 160km per hour.

Sheikh linked the benefits of the construction of China Pakistan EconomicCorridor with thedevelopment of railway department.

The Minister said that CPEC project is the backbone of the economy andrevolutionary changes would be carried out in the rehabilitation of railwaywith the support of China.

Criticizing the previous governments spending of gigantic sum on theconstruction of roads, he said there was need to improve the condition oftracks which is in dilapidated condition.

Rasheed informed that there are 2000 railway crossings without gates and inlimited resources it has become difficult for railway to construct it.

He urged the people not to play cricket on railway track as it leads toaccidents. Rashid said that number of freight trains would be increased asit will increase the profit of Railway.

He announced that new train would be added to Green line service while workin progress for starting two new trains from Quetta to Karachi.

He said that earlier I had asked the residents residing along with theNullah leh not to sell their properties as now they are going to becomemillionaire with the construction of Expressway.

He said that the previous rulers destroyed the economy of the country,adding 2019 would be year of Imran Khan success.

The Minister renewed his pledge that corruption in railway would not betolerated at any level.

Earlier the Minister planted a sapling in the lawn of the Railway hospitalunder ongoing “Plant for Pakistan” drive.
