ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said dialogue is the only optionfor Pakistan and India to move forward on the path of peace.
Talking to the Indian media persons in Islamabad, he said there should beno pre conditions for dialogue as it will mean there is no intention forpeace.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Kashmir is the only core issue betweenthe two countries. He said the solution of this problem is possibleprovided the leadership of both the countries demonstrate will towards thatend.
He stressed that there are great dividends of peace between the twoneighboring countries. He said the resolution of Kashmir dispute willbenefit the whole sub-continent as it open the region for trade andeconomic activities.
Imran Khan said both Pakistan and India are nuclear powered states and theycannot afford any confrontation.
The Prime Minister said he has approached the India from the one day inoffice saying that his country will take two step against the one step fromthe Indian side. He, however regretted that the Indian response has beenbad.
Imran Khan said he felt India’s lack of response to Pakistan’s outreachseemed to be governed by electoral calculations. He said India finally willhave to reciprocate to Pakistan’s positive gestures. He said there iscomplete consensus in Pakistan for developing better relations with India.
He said it will be his utmost effort to normalize relations both with Indiaand Afghanistan.
On Kartarpur Corridor, Imran Khan said it was the long standing demand ofSikh community.
Responding to a question, the Prime Minister said it is not in our interestto have the territory to be used against any other country. He said Indiahas not changed its mindset regarding allegations of terrorism againstPakistan.
Imran Khan said Pakistan has developed a national action plan withconsensus of all political parties. This plan is aimed at ensuring that noarmed group is allowed to operate from our soil.
