WASHINGTON: Deputy Spokesperson U.S. State Department Robert Palladino hasresponded over the decision of opening Kartarpur border between Pakistanand India.

US has welcomed the Pakistan decision of opening Kartarpur corridor for theSikh community.

He termed it a big step towards peace in South Asia and addig that it willbe instrumental in building trust between India and Pakistan.

Palladino said US appreciated Pakistan s efforts to increase contactbetween peoples of the two countries are commendable.

Peaceful and normal relations among Pakistan and India are important forthe development of both the countries and the region, he added.

Earlier on November 29, Prime Minister Imran Khan performed groundbreakingof Kartarpur corridor for Sikhs in India to visit a shrine to theirreligion‘s founder in eastern Pakistan.
