Pakistan to sign Preferential Trade Agreement with leading Nation

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan likely to sign preferential trade agreement with keyAfrican nation soon.

As per media report, Pakistan and Tunisia are expected to sign aPreferential Trade Agreement next year, which will boost bilateral tradebetween the two countries.

Ambassador of Tunisia Adel Elarbi has said negotiations over the proposedPTA between Tunisia and Pakistan are going on and it is likely to be signedduring the first quarter of 2019.

The Tunisian envoy was speaking at a function at the Lahore Chamber ofCommerce and Industry (LCCI).

Senior Vice President LCCI Khawaja Shahzad Nasir and Vice PresidentFahim-ur-Rehman Saigal also spoke on the occasion.

The Ambassador said that the PTA would be signed after finalization ofgoods for trade between the two countries under the new regime.

Tunisia has a significant geographical position as it is a gateway toAfrican countries, European states and Arab countries. Tunisia has signedFTA with European Union so it is expected that in near future, Tunisia willbecome economic hub of Africa, he said.
