India: 28 perish as bus veered off road

NEW DELHI: In India, at least 28 people, many of them children, drowned after their bus plunged into a canal in Mandya district of Karnataka.

Police said they retrieved 28 bodies from the bus after it veered off the road.

A police officer at the scene told AFP that many of the victims were school children returning to their homes.
