Pakistani Christian community celebrates Christmas with full religious freedom

LAHORE – Christian community is celebrating Christmas celebrationsthroughout the country and Christmas prayers are being held in all thecities of Pakistan on Tuesday (today).

As Christians across the country celebrate the festive occasion ofChristmas amid tight security, the president, prime minister and other topgovernment officials extended their felicitations and warmest wishes tomembers of the community.

Christian citizens have decorated their homes and churches with colourfulfairy lights. Residential colonies have also been decorated with twinklinglights and stars, and baubles such as bells, pine cones, apples, candies,tinsel, balloons and bedecked Christmas trees. Special Christmas trees havebeen prepared to celebrate the occasion.

Security has been ramped up at churches across Pakistan. Police contingentshave been deployed to protect churchgoers over Christmas.

Pakistan President Arif Alvi in his message has extended his warmestgreetings to Christian brethren in Pakistan on the joyous occasion ofChristmas and has commended the sincere efforts of Christian community forthe socio-economic development of the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has greeted the country’s Christian community onthe auspicious occasion of Christmas and wished them a happy and peacefulChristmas.

“Wishing all our Christian citizens a happy and peaceful Christmas”, thePrime Minister said in his tweet on the occasion.
