LAHORE – A Pakistan Muslim League-N’s MNA Afzal Khokhar was arrested fromthe Supreme Court’s Lahore registry premises Tuesday over his allegedinvolvement in a case of illegal occupation of land in the Punjab capital.
MNA Afzal Nadeem Khokhar faces detention was arrested for illegally takinginto possession 34 marla land of a citizen, Tariq Mahmood, a few years back.
A first information report registered with Lahore’s Nawab Town police byBritish resident Muhammad Ali Zafar said that a few years earlier, he hadbought the said land in the Sultanpura area.
The then-owner Tariq Mahmood had demarcated the land in his presence, Zafarstated in the FIR, adding that Khokhar Palace, the MNA’s residence, hadsince been built on his land.

On December 15, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued orders to putnames of Afzal Khokhar and his brother Saiful Malook Khokhar on the ExitControl List. However, during Tuesday’s hearing, the apex court rejectedthe prosecutor’s plea to put the names of Khokhar brothers on the ECL.
The orders were issued by a two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice ofPakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, at the Lahore registry on the suo motu notice ofas many as 22 encroachments on land owned by Lahore Development Authorityin different parts of Lahore.
