Nawaz Sharif shifted to Adiala Jail

ISLAMABAD – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was awarded seven-yearimprisonment and a fine of 2.5 million dollars in Al-Azizia Steel Millsreference case by Accountability Court in Islamabad today. Judge ArshadMalik of Accountability Court, who announced the verdict, acquitted NawazSharif in Flagship Investments reference case.

Nawaz Sharif was arrested from the premises of accountability court.

The Accountability Court Judge accepted Nawaz Sharif’s request to shift himto Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore instead of Adiyala Jail Rawalpindi.

The verdict was reserved by Accountability Court Judge Muhammad ArshadMalik on Wednesday last.

Nawaz Sharif was later shifted to Adiyala Jail Rawalpindi from where hewill be shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore tomorrow. The NationalAccountability Bureau has decided to file an appeal against theAccountability Court judgment in Flagship reference case against formerPrime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the bureau at itsheadquarters in Islamabad this evening, with Chairman NAB Justice retiredJaved Iqbal in the chair.

The meeting was attended by senior law experts, concerned NAB directorsgeneral, and other top officers.

The chairman directed NAB’s legal team to timely file an appeal against theverdict about Nawaz Sharif’s acquittal in the Flagship reference with solidevidences and full preparation.
