ISLAMABAD – The number of tax return filings in Pakistan surged 34 percentto 1,492,507 till December 17.
The finance minister took to Twitter to announced that 1,492,507individuals across the country filed their tax returns this year.
Umar said the number was 34 percent higher than the number of returns filedduring the same period of last year.
The government, after multiple extensions, had fixed December 17 as thelast date for filing tax returns.
The individuals, whose annual salary from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018 wasabove Rs400,000, were required to file their income tax returns along withtheir wealth statement for the financial year 2017-18.
