Accountability Court likely to reserve verdict today against Nawaz Sharif in two corruption references

ISLAMABAD – The accountability court is likely to reserve verdicts in twocorruption reference against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif today.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor wrapped his finalarguments in the Flagship Investment reference against the former premier,while the closing arguments in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills case weresubmitted earlier this month.

On Tuesday, Accountability Court II Judge Arshad Malik, while hearing theconcluding arguments in the Flagship reference yesterday, had ordered thedefense and prosecution to give additional arguments on the Supreme Courtdecision in the references until 1pm on Wednesday.

Khawaja Haris Ahmad, the counsel for Nawaz, will submit a rebuttal overprosecution’s final arguments in the Flagship case today.

On December 7, the apex court had directed the trial court to wrap up thecases by December 24.
