Russia expresses desire to enhance trilateral partnership with Pakistan China

KARACHI: Alexey Y Dedov, the ambassador of the Russian Federation inPakistan, hailed the move of the South Asain giant to open the KartarpurCorridor for Sikh pilgrims in India.

According to details, the envoy, speaking at Pakistan Institute ofInternational Affairs on the topic of “Russia’s Stabilising Role in SouthAsia”, stated that Pakistan’s decision of opening Kartarpur border showsthe country’s commitment towards peace and stability in the region.

He further appreciated Pakistan’s military crackdown against militantspresent inside its border under the operations of Radd-ul-Fasaad andZarb-e-Azb.

Expressing a desire to further cement bilateral ties between Islamabad andMoscow, the Russian ambassador said, Peace Mission 2018 is a testament tostrong relations between the two countries.

Responding to a question related to Afghanistan, Dedov said that Russiafavors a democratic Afghanistan, but few Afghan territories are still beingused for terrorism.

The diplomat told the participants at the insttitue that Russia is also apart of One Belt One Road cooperation, and aspires to establishstrengthened trilateral trade with Pakistan and China under the megaproject.

Pakistan and Russia have also stepped up cooperation in the defence sectorsince 2014 when the two countries signed an agreement for boostingbilateral ties.
