ISLAMABAD – Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and Pakistan MuslimLeague-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif on Monday while criticizingthe PTI government asked about the reason behind awarding Mohmand Damcontract after first bidding.

Speaking on the floor of the house, he said that Mohmand Dam is veryimportant, adding that there has been a lot of discussion in this regard.

“Construction of water reserves is the most important thing at the moment,”he said and added the PML-N government had allocated Rs2 billion in thisregard.

Sharif went on to say that the condition of a poor man is not hidden fromanyone during the tenure of the incumbent government.

The PML-N president said: “Expensive electricity is being produced andprices of medicines have also been increased by 15 percent. Inflation is onthe rise across the country and the genie of power crisis is coming out ofbottle.”

Sharif reaffirmed that the Mohmand Dam is not against PEPRA rules, addingthat the contract was awarded in first bid, while the other company had notbeen awarded contract on technical ground.

The government is receiving financial aid from foreign countries due toChief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and not because ofPrime Minister Imran Khan.
