705th Urs of Great Sufi Saint Hazrat Shah Ruknuddin Alam kicks off in Multan

MULTAN – The three-day 705th Urs celebrations of great saint ofsub-continent Hazrat Shah Ruknuddin Alam began here on Saturday.

Custodian of the shrine and foreign minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshigave a traditional bath to the shrine and inaugurated the Urs celebrations.

Addressing on the occasion, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi stressed the needfor following the teachings of the saint for maintenance and promotion ofpeace, love and brotherhood. He lauded the spirit and enthusiasm ofdevotees for attending the Urs celebrations in extreme weather.

He urgedthem to understand the message of the great saint and follow it forsuccess. He said the great saint was very kind and he always resolvedproblems of masses.The Custodian of the shrine prayed for progress and prosperity of thecountry.

He said the country was facing numerous internal and external challenges,adding that conspiracies were being hatched to create division among themasses. He also prayed for economic revival, investment and jobopportunities in the country.

President of Muslim Institute Islamabad Sahibzada Sultan Ahmed Ali, on theoccasion, said that saints always guided people towards goodness.

Ex-federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi also addressedthe inaugural session and said that the great saints purified the people,who used to visit the shrines.

Chairman of Islamic Department Government College University LahoreProfessor Dr Sultan Shah also paid rich tribute to Hazrat Shah RuknuddinAlam and “Sislal-e-Suhrwardia” for services towards humanity and Islam.

Sultan Shah informed that he wrote a book on teaching and preachingmethodology of the great saint. He informed that he would publish it verysoon and the bookwould convey message of the great saint at international level.

Speaking on the occasion, Custodian of Kot Mithhan Shrine Moinuddin MehboobKoreja proposed improvement in affairs of Auqaf department. He alsoadvocated propagation of teachings of the great saint.

Chief of Jamat Ahl-e-Sunnat Allama Hafiz Farooq Khan Saeedi, Kanwar Sultan,Dr Siddique Qadri and other also spoke.

MNAs Aamir Dogar, Zain Qureshi, special assistant to CM Punjab Javed AkhtarAnsari, MNA Zahoor Hussain Qureshi, and other noteables also attended theinaugural session.
