Riaz last represented Pakistan internationally back in October last yearagainst Australia in a Test series. The speedster, however, has been prettyactive in the domestic circuit, representing the Lahore Whites in therecently concluded National T20 Cup that the Whites won.

Meanwhile, Afridi’s statements regarding picking up Riaz comes afterskipper Sarfraz Ahmed voiced concerns over his bowling unit’s lack of pace, after losing the Test series to South Africa.

“The way our bowlers are bowling is not up to the mark in this Test match. If you see our bowlers, they’re bowling 128-129, and the average speed is130, while their bowlers are bowling at 145. If you are going to bowl withthat lack of pace here you won’t get wickets,” said the skipper during thepost match conference.
