ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court has referred the Fake Bank Accounts Case toNational Accountability Bureau for investigation.
In its short judgment on Monday, a three-judge bench of the Court headed byChief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar ordered NAB to probe the case afresh in thelight of Joint Investigation Team report and complete the investigationwithin two months.
The court said that National Accountability Bureau can summon any personfor investigation into the case and file references accordingly.
The Court ordered to exclude the names of PPP Chairman Bilawal BhuttoZardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah from the Exit ControlList and the JIT report.
The court also ordered to remove the names of Farooq H Naek and his familyfrom the ECL.
The court observed that Murad Ali Shah should have been given the right topresent his stance while the PPP Chairman who was out of the countrypursuing his studies had nothing to do with the businesses of his father.
The Chief Justice remarked that the PPP Chairman was heading the legacy ofhis mother.
Attorney-General Anwar Mansoor Khan told the Court that the matter ofplacing names of one hundred and seventy two suspects on ECL was referredto Interior Ministry and progress on the issue is expected tillThursday.
Meanwhile, a three-member bench of the apex Court headed by Chief JusticeMian Saqib Nisar also heard the case in Islamabad on Monday.
Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda appeared before the Court.
The Court ordered him to ensure meeting of Executive Committee of theNational Economic Council at the earliest so that matters relating toconstruction of the Nai Gaj Dam can be taken up.
The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of case regarding constructionof Nai Gaj Dam in Dadu district, Sindh till Friday.
