WASHINGTON – US National Security Adviser John Bolton said the withdrawalof US troops from Syria depends on certain conditions and the process isbeing slowed down.
On a trip to Israel and Turkey, he said he would seek Turkish assurancesthat Kurds in northern Syria would be safe.
He said Turkey must agree to protect its Kurdish allies for the withdrawalof troops from Syria.
John Bolton told reporters that he would stress Turkish officials, including President Tayyip Erdogan, that the Kurds must be safeguarded.
Bolton said the United States will talk to Turkey to find out what itsobjectives and capabilities were.
However, President Tayyip Erdogan’s spokesman has termed the claim of JohnBolton as irrational that Turkey targets Kurds.
The spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said Ankara’s targets were the militants ofIslamic State and the Kurdish groups YPG and PKK.
