IHC fixed hearing over Nawaz Sharif appeal for suspension of sentence

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed the hearing over NawazSharif appeal.

IHC will hear Nawaz Sharif’s plea for suspension of sentence in theAl-Azizia reference on Monday.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah has formed a two-member bench for hearingthe plea.

The bench comprises of Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Amir Farooq.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif had filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court(IHC) against his sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference onTuesday.

The appeal filed through his counsel requested the court to nullify theverdict of the accountability court.

The court had returned the plea after raising an objection. Nawaz Sharif’scounsel again filed the petition after removing the objections.

Nawaz Sharif, in the petition, contended that he should be granted bail andreleased until the verdict on the main appeals.
