After British Air, Yet another leading Airline of the World wants to start flight operations from Pakistan: Report

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwalla emphasized the need tofurther strengthen the existing bilateral relations between Pakistan andGermany through enhancing parliamentary ties and cooperation in variousareas of mutual interest.

He was talking to Ambassador of Germany in Pakistan Martin Kobler here atParliament House on Friday.

German Ambassador has hinted that German Flag carrier and one of theleading Airline of the World Lufhtansa Air wants to start operations fromPakistan.

The Deputy Chairman Senate observed that parliamentary parleys were highlysignificant in creating an atmosphere of understanding and therefore theparliamentary friendship groups from both sides needed to play an activerole.

He said that Pakistan desired to further expand the economic and traderelations with Germany. He also recalled his visits to Germany and saidthat both sides shared a vision aimed at development. Deputy ChairmanSenate also appreciated the activism shown by the German Ambassador onsocial media.

Senator Mandviwalla underscored the need to bring the trade bodies andchambers of commerce closer to each other for benefit of the people of bothsides as there existed a huge scope for investment in different sectors.

The ambassador said, “We have a decentralized system like the one inPakistan and there are many similarities between Pakistan and Germany.” Hesaid that Pakistan was a great country with hospitable people and lovelyculture.

He informed the Deputy Chairman Senate that Lufthansa, German flag carrier,had indicated to launch its flight operation from Pakistan, however, someprocedural assessments would be made to decide formally. He also expressedhis well wishes for the Deputy Chairman and agreed with his views forenhanced bilateral cooperation and interaction at parliamentary and otherlevels.

Senators Mian Muhammad Atiq Sheikh and Quratulain Marri were also presentduring the meeting. Both the senators who are also members of thePakistan-Germany Friendship Group in the Senate emphasized the need forexploring new avenues of cooperation and to remove the negative perceptionabout Pakistan by reviewing the travel advisory for German citizensvisiting Pakistan.
