DUBAI – The Pakistani community came forward to pay Dh200,000 diya (bloodmoney) of a young man who died in a car accident last month.
The 21-year-old Pakistani Abdul Rehman died in a car accident while four ofhis Pakistani friends sustained serious injuries after the car they weretravelling veered off and flipped several times on the mountainous area ofRas Al Khaimah, Khaleej Times has reported.
The deceased, who was a visitor in the UAE, was returning with four friendsafter camping in Ras Al Khaimah when the unfortunate incident took place onDecember 14. The deceased’s body was flown back to Pakistan last monthfollowing the completion of procedures, while the injured are undergoingtreatment.
The Ras Al Khaimah court ordered the friend, who was driving the vehicle,to pay Dh200,000 diya (blood money) to the deceased’s relatives as well asthe traffic fines.
Around 10 Pakistani community members – friends and relatives – cameforward to arrange the money which was deposited at the Ras Al KhaimahCourt on Thursday.
